We Always Have to Decide
Today, after finished broadcast at my station, I met Agatha unintentionally. Agatha used to be my senior at 107,9 rtc ui fm my station, but now she’s already graduated from college (cause my station is a student radio station) and being accepted to one of private radio in Jakarta. She was coming with my friend Nadya, randomly I asked her whether she have any broadcast schedule in her station or not, and Nadya’s laughing. Why? Because Agatha is in consideration to resign from his private radio she work for, the reason is.. she’s accepted in one of big company which working on public goods, and the company offer good salary and either good position to her. I was happy to hear about that news, but she didn’t ! wonder why? Because being in that company means that Agatha must take off her position in her radio. She’s announcer in that radio, and announcing is her passion as well.
Taking off something that you always really love to do is harder than you think, even the company offer you 10 times bigger salary than you have now. She said that she’s always dreamed of being a broadcast announcer since she was in high school, announcing is something that can distract her from stressed and announcing also always complete her life. She talked many things about how much she love broadcasting life, and it really impressed me and I realize that so much pleasure that we get when we’re airing, she talked about random character of people that respons her by sms, people whom happy when they’re alone cause announcing voice likes squire them doing what they do, people whom happy because we read their sms, and also people whom happy that we played their favorite songs. These are pleasure that broadcaster get from their listeners, even the listeners just know our voice and never meet us intentionally. Announcer happy of giving happiness, even it just a little things, that’s why announcing could be a one passion. It’s easier to work with passion, because it will always makes you give your best and put you in place where you can comfort with.
Money can’t buy happiness that’s what Agatha said, she told me that she’s already satisfied with “enough” money, she don’t need more money as long as she’s still happy with what she works on. Based on I forgot the name, but she said rich person who said that we don’t need to earn much money, enough is good when we’re happy with what we’re doing now, and we can still fulfill our needs and we don’t need to expect more.
However,chance of being accepted in a big company which offer you much more money and a good position doesn’t come twice, we don’t want to regret decission we’ve made. I excuse her for it, it’s not an easy decision to make, she still have 2 more days to think of it and I pray that whatever decision she will make, will be the best that she deserved.
I learn something from listen to Agatha’s story. First how we sometimes forgot small things that can make us happy, we knew it, but we sometimes doesn’t appreciate it, second is, Yes! We have passion in our life, what is your passion? Have you already in a track that close to your passion? Or you’re blinded by everythings around that offer you money or something that make you lose your passion and ambition? Never forget your purpose, your dream, and stay focus for everythings that you want. Third is, decision! Sometimes we have to face a condition that pushed us to make a big decision that will effect our entire life, it will change everything may can be better in one side, and maybe worse in other side. But, as a human we always have to choose, we can’t have everything ! that’s why God said greedy is a human nature. You can never satisfied even God serve you a mountain of Gold. Last but not least, always being wise with every decision you made, leave aside selfishness, and living your life with passion.
